**New Rank Insignia for Noncommissioned Officers** The Bundeswehr, the German armed forces, is introducing new rank insignia for noncommissioned officers (NCOs). These insignia will be displayed on uniforms and will indicate the NCO's rank and experience. The new rank insignia are divided into two categories: * **Unteroffiziere without Portepee (Feldwebel, Stabsfeldwebel, Hauptfeldwebel)** * Feldwebel: one silver stripe * Stabsfeldwebel: two silver stripes * Hauptfeldwebel: three silver stripes * **Unteroffiziere with Portepee (Oberfeldwebel, Stabsoberfeldwebel, Hauptfeldwebel)** * Oberfeldwebel: one gold stripe * Stabsoberfeldwebel: two gold stripes * Hauptfeldwebel: three gold stripes In addition to the rank insignia, NCOs will also wear a shoulder board with the Bundeswehr eagle and their branch of service. The new rank insignia are expected to be introduced in the near future.
